The Market for Pre-Owned Smartphones in Portugal

The Market for Pre-Owned Smartphones in Portugal

With the arrival of the crisis in 2008, the market for new smartphones began to lose momentum and the main manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung reached a point of stagnation.

According to research Worldwide Used Smartphone Forecast , the market for used and refurbished smartphones is forecast to grow to 222.6 million in 2020, representing compound annual growth of 22.3%. p>

Thus, the used, pre-owned or refurbished smartphones sector has emerged as an alternative to the new market and has seen marked development.

In Portugal, the leading company in this market is Forall Phones. Since its creation, the Portuguese have opted for pre-owned smartphones and left new ones in the background. Although there are still no studies on the national market for pre-owned smartphones, statistics point to accelerated growth.

A survey carried out by Forall Phones that asked 380 people explains that the reasons that lead to the purchase of a pre-owned smartphone as an alternative to a new one include its price reduced and the quality of the product.

Similar to what happened with the automotive sector in Portugal, the consumption of smartphones has also changed, establishing companies like Forall Phones, as viable and more affordable alternatives.

Of the customers who purchased a smartphone at Forall Phones, 90% are very satisfied with the purchase and 82% intend to buy a smartphone again brand new.

Analyzing this data, it is predictable that the future of technology consumers will involve the acquisition of pre-owned smartphones and that this market will experience marked growth compared to the smartphone market< /em>premium new.
