Is your Apple Watch slow? Improve it with these tips

Smart watches have become an indispensable part of our daily lives, allowing us to monitor our physical activity, receive notifications and even make phone calls without having to take the phone out of our pocket.

The Apple Watch is one of the most popular smartwatches on the market, with a series of advanced features and functionalities that make it the favorite device for many people. However, as with any electronic device, Apple Watch performance may decrease over time.

If your Apple Watch is running slower, don't worry! In this article, we share with you some tips that can help you improve the performance of your device and have a more fluid and satisfying user experience.

Restart Apple Watch

Start by restarting your Apple Watch. Whenever mobile devices become slow, restarting the device can be an effective solution. By doing so, you will reset the cache memory and free up the RAM memory.

After restarting your device, check whether this action has had any positive effect on your watch's performance.

Close applications from the Dock

The iPhone has excellent memory management and, for this reason, we are not used to closing applications that are running in the background. However, the Apple Watch does not have similar hardware, so it is necessary to remove open applications that are no longer in use.

To close apps from the Dock and improve performance, unlock your Apple Watch, press the Side button once to open the Dock in watchOS, then swipe to left on top of an app and remove them one by one.

Reduce Movement

Apple products are known for having smooth animations. However, the device's GPU works here, and this affects its performance, as well as battery life.

To reduce animations in watchOS and prevent the operating system from consuming too many smartwatch resources, you will need to activate the ?Reduce motion? option. Press the Digital Crown to access the home screen. Then, click on the Settings icon and select the ?General? option. Then choose the ?Accessibility? option, followed by ?Reduce movement?.

Now, when you browse watchOS, you will see that the watch face and app animations have disappeared. Instead of zoom effects, you'll see a simple fade transition that's much faster and less resource-intensive.

Disable automatic application installation

Several iPhone applications have versions compatible with the Apple Watch. Whenever you install one of these applications, it will also be installed on your smartwatch. To disable this feature and save storage space, open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to the bottom left corner of the ?My Watch? tab, and tap ?General?. Then disable the ?Automatic installation? feature.

Uninstall unwanted applications

After disabling the ?Automatic installation? feature, you should also remove unnecessary apps from your smartwatch. Click the Digital Crown once to open the home screen, then tap and hold any icon until the apps start to jiggle. Finally, in third-party apps, you will see an X in the top left corner that will allow you to delete the app. Confirm the uninstallation by tapping the ?Delete application? option.

Disable background app refresh

Background updates affect processor performance and quickly drain your battery. As such, it is recommended that you disable this feature if you want to improve the performance of your Apple Watch.

If you want to disable background app updates, open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to the ?My Watch? tab and then General > Background update. In this section, disable the feature or choose to disable each application individually.

Update watchOS

Sometimes the version of watchOS running on your Apple Watch may contain bugs that affect its performance. In this sense, it is important to update the operating system to its latest stable version. After doing so, evaluate the device's performance again.

Reset your Apple Watch

If none of the previously mentioned solutions have resolved the problem, you should restore the device. Remember that you can still contact Apple support if you need technical support.
