Apple had to pay TSMC more for the production of SoCs (System on a Chip) for the new iPhones. Many of the essential components of these smartphones are more expensive, distribution costs are extremely higher, and we also have the problem of inflation.
All these variables will make the iPhone 14 range the most expensive ever, compared to the current iPhone 13 range that we can find on the shelves.
As there are even more differences in the Pro versions, this is where we will see the biggest price increase. Unfortunately, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be the most expensive smartphones ever in Apple's history.
What are the technical specifications?
In short, the Pro versions have the same base specifications, with both featuring the new A16 Bionic Chip, storage options between 128GB and 1TB, 8GB of RAM, OLED screen (6.1? and 6.7?) capable of going to 120Hz.
The price? We are looking at an increase of $100 in both models, which in Portugal could very well mean an increase between ?100 and ?150.
History repeats itself with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max, two models that are almost identical in terms of specifications. However, unlike in the past, Apple will opt for last year's Chip instead of equipping the entire range with the latest A16 Bionic.
In terms of price, things are no longer exactly the same. The iPhone 14 is expected to hit the market at the exact same price as last year's iPhone 13. However, this will become the cheapest iPhone in the range, as the mini version will cease to exist in 2022. The 6.7? model will be between ?100 and ?150 more expensive than the base version.
With all this news, a more economical and accessible option appears compared to buying the latest iPhone model on the market. The answer is a bit obvious, even suspicious, right?
