Therefore, before selling your device, you must remove your personal information. However, you should not manually delete contacts, calendars, reminders, documents, photos or other information from iCloud while you are signed in because doing so may delete all your data from the iCloud server. To do it safely, follow these steps:
- Makes a backup copy of the device. If you have an Apple Watch, you must unpair the Apple Watch with the iPhone;
- Sign out of iCloud and all Apple stores (iTunes Store and App Store) by going to Settings > [your name], swipe down and click Sign Out. Enter your Apple ID password and click Deactivate;
- Go back to Settings and click on General > Reset > Apay content and settings. If you have Find My iPhone turned on, you may need to enter your Apple ID and password.
- If asked for the device code or the code for Restrictions, enter it. Then click Delete [device].
When you erase an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, Find My iPhone and Activation Lock are turned off.
