The Best Chat Apps for iPhone

It is one of the most used functions on smartphones today and takes us back to the days of cell phones with keys. Texting, or, let's say, "the art of sending SMS" is still a reality today and, more and more, we are looking for services that allow us to have a more complete and enriching - emojis, gifs and integrations with other apps are just some of the demands we no longer live with today.

And, yes, although, nowadays, tariffs with free SMS are a common practice, there are some advantages to using this type of applications, such as - group conversations, longer messages (without running the risk of switching to MMS and incurring additional costs), transposition of the platform to the PC (i.e. being able to use your cell phone chat account on the PC) and, obviously, the possibility of adding multimedia such as images, videos and gif's to your messages.

Forall Phones knows how important it is to always be in touch with your friends and, therefore, we decided to present you the most popular and interesting chat apps for your iPhone. Let's do it?

1. WhatsApp

It is probably the most famous application for sending written messages, both on the iOS and Android platforms. p>

Its concept is simple. In fact, that's exactly it. WhatsApp is unpretentiously proud of its simplicity. It is a lightweight application that allows you to send individual or group messages using an internet connection (whether through mobile data or Wi-Fi).

WhatsApp also allows tracking of the messages you send, that is, you can always understand the status of messages sent through the platform, dividing this process in 3 states - sent, delivered (received on the target device) and read. Yes, that state that usually ends relationships. Soon, it will even be possible to obtain more information about messages, for example, understanding how many times they were forwarded to other conversations within WhatsApp.

In addition to the messaging aspect, WhatsApp also allows you to make calls and video calls, always using an internet connection.

Recently, WhatsApp implemented the concept of "states", which are nothing more than something similar to Instagram stories, for example.

One ??of WhatsApp's biggest differentiating factors is the fact that it can be used via PC. With a simple association process, you can talk on WhatsApp on your PC, while still keeping all conversations on your cell phone. In terms of functionalities, you can practically use them to their fullest. There are applications suitable for Mac and Windows, and if you don't want to install the app, you can always use WhatsApp Web, a website that gives you the same experience as the application, but within your internet browser.

WhatsApp is consistently one of the most downloaded applications on the App Store.

2. Facebook Messenger

Facebook Messenger presents itself as a more complex alternative than WhatsApp, for example.

In addition to being able to talk to your friends, create group conversations and share stories exclusive to the application (in which you can use various filters provided), you can also talk to brands and companies, either through contact with a person on the other side or with the help of bots. Booking a table at a restaurant, for example, is now possible via Facebook Messenger, if the restaurant allows it.

In some countries (such as the USA, United Kingdom and France), the application already allows you to transfer money between friends, somewhat similar to what already happens today in Portugal with MB Way.

Another of Facebook Messenger's attractive features are the games that can be played with friends without leaving the application. Challenges and scoreboards are just some of the game features within Facebook Messenger.

This application does not require, unlike WhatsApp, that you have access to the cell phone number of the person you want to contact. All you need is for the other person to be registered on Facebook Messenger or to be your friend on Facebook.

You can also, like WhatsApp, use Facebook Messenger on your computer. The messages will also be available on both your PC and your iPhone, as the connection is made through your Facebook account.

3. Direct from Instagram

Like the launch of Facebook's Messenger app, Direct, as it is called, was also surrounded by controversy, as users of < strong>Instagram said it didn't make sense to create a separate app just for conversations that, until now, existed directly in the Instagram application.

Instagram Direct works as a complement to Instagram itself, allowing you to contact any user of this social network. Thanks to its connection to Instagram, this app allows you to send video messages (which can disappear after being viewed - similar to the Snapchat concept) using the available filters. Communication thus becomes more fun and much, much more interactive. Let's say you can, with Direct, make stories only for a specific contact.

Voice messages are also available, as in the two previous applications mentioned.

Unfortunately, this app does not have a PC version (except for the Instagram app for Windows).

4. Snapchat

We couldn't mention Instagram Direct without mentioning Snapchat - the birthplace of stories. And, in reality, although it has evolved a lot, this app essentially focuses on stories, whether they are shared with the entire group of friends or just with a specific person.

Through this app, it is also possible to send text messages and, like sent snaps, they can also disappear after being viewed, not remaining in history.

5. Viber

Viber is an application from the Japanese company Rakuten and is very similar to WhatsApp although it does not (yet!) have a version for use on a computer.< /p>

To contact someone on this app, simply have their number saved on your iPhone.

This application also allows you to keep up to date with the news of some artists with whom there is a partnership - such as the singer Shakira, for example - by having a specific "conversation" in your chat list.

This app is also ideal for fans of stickers which, BTW, have also arrived on WhatsApp. Not only does the application already include a series of pre-loaded stickers, it also allows you to download new stickers, whether free or paid.

6 - Telegram

The essence of Telegram is very similar to that of WhatsApp - text and multimedia messaging where simplicity is king . However, Telegram is widely known for its security. Recently, the owner of Telegram even refused to give the Russian government its encryption keys for messages. The app takes security so seriously that you can even mark your messages to self-destruct!

Another unique feature of this app is the groups. Yes, groups, because you can have an unlimited number of users in the same conversation.

Telegram has no limits when sending multimedia and the best part is that you don't have to worry if your iPhone has little storage space - everything is saved in the app's cloud.

Although it's not exactly an app, if you have an iPhone, you're certainly familiar with iMessage from Apple strong>.

Basically, through this service, you can communicate with other iPhone users via your data or Wi-Fi connection. With iMessage, you can send text, images, video and there are even some mini-apps that allow you to send, among other things, direct links to songs from Apple Music, for example. And, of course, gifs and stickers are also present!

Through iMessage it is also possible to create group conversations between users of the platform.

One ??of the great advantages of iMessage is having all your conversations grouped in one application - Apple's native Messages app.
