iOS 12 - Stay Up to Date with the New Features

iOS 12 - Stay Up to Date with the New Features
arances and features such as News, iBooks (which will now be called Apple Books), Stock and Dictaphone (Recorder of Voice).

With the arrival of ARKit 2.0, iOS will gain a feature called Shared Experiences that will allow up to four people to see/interact with the same set of augmented reality items. This will be particularly useful for games.

The new Measures app, as the name suggests, will help people measure things using the device's camera to check the dimensions of an object.

Siri

In this new version, Siri gained new features and became a little smarter. The new feature called Shortcuts allows you to configure certain actions for Siri linked to third-party applications. In an application integrated with a keychain, for example, you can integrate the shortcut ?I lost my keys? and Siri will know how to call the application to solve your problem. Siri will also start making smarter suggestions, using these app shortcuts as well. Directly on the locked screen, for example, it can suggest ordering a coffee that you usually make every morning. Or if you're running late for a meeting, Siri might suggest sending a message to the person to let them know, or calling a contact on their birthday. Anyone can create their own shortcuts, all using a drag and drop method.

Photographs

The photography application now has a more intelligent search and a new tab called ?For You?. There you will have featured photos, moments, suggestions for effects to apply to your photos, activities in shared albums, etc. We also have suggestions for what to share with family and friends and/or how to send photos to friends who were with you at the same dinner or event.

Animojis

Now, Animojis will also be able to track tongue movements, which will allow you to send animated emojis showing your tongue. Additionally, new characters have been added to the gallery: the ghost, the koala, the tiger and the dinosaur. In addition to Animojis, Memojis were also shown, that is, animated and personalized emojis with the person's face.

iMessages

FaceTime will be integrated with iMessages, so users will be able to easily switch a text conversation to a group video call. It also gained the ability to make group video calls of up to 32 people, and we can also use Animojis and Memojis during the conversation.

CarPlay

CarPlay will finally support third-party navigation applications, such as Waze and Google Maps, news that many Brazilians have long awaited, as Apple's Maps application does not work in Brazil.

Other News

Now it will be possible to better control how and when notifications appear on your smartphone screen, being able to completely turn off notifications from an application or remove them from the locked screen, and Siri itself will be able to suggest that you turn off notifications from applications that you don't have used. In addition to do not disturb, there is also the Screen Time feature, with weekly reports on application usage. It will show graphs and information about how much time you are spending/investing in certain things on your iPhone/iPad, how many times a day you pick up your smartphone for a certain application, how many application notifications you interact with, among other information. And all of this is also very useful for children, allowing parents to control the use of these devices even more.

There are many small new features and I'm sure that more new features may appear in the next beta versions that are initially available to developers from today and, soon, to the general public.
